Ironman is probably the most technologically advanced superhero on the face of the Earth. Like Batman, he has no inborn supernatural powers. Instead, he used his wealth and intelligence to become a self-made superhero.
The real identity of Ironman is Tony Stark, as most people know him, but his full name is Anthony Edward Stark. Unlike many superheroes that were made by one writer and one artist, Ironman is a collaboration of four people - Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, Don Heck, and Jack Kirby. He made his first appearance on March 1963 under the Marvel comics entitled Tales of Suspense #39.
Tony Stark is a great businessman and engineer. He is the son of Maria and Howard Stark. His father is a wealthy businessman who owns Stark Industries. Tony was found to be a genius at a young age. At the age of 15, he began studying computer science and electrical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He inherited Stark Industries when his parents died from a car accident.
As a wealthy billionaire who provides powerful military weapons and artillery to the United States of America, Tony Stark is a playboy who seems to care only about himself. But unlike Batman, this is not a disguise that Stark is putting up to avoid being suspected as Ironman. He is naturally like that.
Stark's haughty behavior often gets him in trouble whether as Tony Stark or as Ironman. There are times when his personality problem gets into him so much that he has to forget about being Ironman and let somebody else - probably someone more responsible - don the powerful suit.
In the original story, Stark was not really planning to become a superhero. He was contented with having his immense wealth by creating weapons for mass destruction and being with the ladies. However, he had a life changing experience.
Tony Stark was kidnapped by a terrorist group. During his abduction, he was injured and it was found that a piece of shrapnel was moving towards his heart and he will die when it gets there. Despite the dire situation, his abductors ordered him to make a powerful weapon for them.
Of course, Stark knew better than that. So, instead of making a weapon for the terrorists, he constructed a protective iron suit with a weapon that can help him escape. He was able to survive with the help of a fellow prisoner, Ho Yinsen - a physicist and a Nobel Prize winner - who devised a magnetic chest plate to keep the shrapnel from piercings Stark's heart. Unfortunately, Yinsen died during their escape to save Stark. In return, Stark used the armor he created to fight against terrorists and other evil forces.
Stark discovered that removing the shrapnel can kill him so he decided to permanently have the magnetic plate on his chest. He wears it under his clothes and with his Ironman suit. It is considered to be the source of power for his heart and the source of power for his Ironman suit.
Many interesting Ironman games have been made, especially when the film was released. Ironman games range from online flash games to video games on various gaming platforms. Some of the popular Ironman games today include Iron Man and Iron Man 2: The Videogame.
